Opportunities for publications
The journal “Latvijas Arhīvi” publishes articles in science of archives, libraries and information, history, source investigation, historiography, history of culture, as well as interdisciplinary research. Articles are accepted in Latvian, scientific articles – also in English, Russian and German. Scientific articles are published in sections “Archives” and “History”. Latvian Council of Science (9 July 2002 meeting resolution No. 3-6-1) has included the section of scientific articles “History” of the journal “Latvijas Arhīvi” in the list of universally recognized scientific editions to be reviewed.
The scientific articles submitted to the Editorial office are reviewed. The novelty and originality of the research, knowledge of sources and literature, exposition and language, as well as the conformity of the article to formal criteria (volume, setting of references and notes), are evaluated. If the article has got a positive review, and if the author has made the necessary corrections and additions, work on preparing it for publication in the journal is commenced. The text undergoes literary editing and publication format is created.
Requirements for setting of scientific articles
The Editorial board accepts articles only in digital form, a printout of the manuscript is also desirable to add. Handwritten or typed manuscripts are not accepted. If images are intended to be published within the article, they are to be submitted either digitally (resolution of an image shall be at least 200–300 pixels), in the original, or high quality copies. The images which have been selected for publication are scanned by the editorial staff.

  1. author’s first name and surname;
  2. the title and subtitle (if any) of the article;
  3. a summary revealing the objective of the article, formulating the main problems and novelty, indicating the basic sources, pointing out the most important conclusions, etc.; volume of the summary – approximately 1000 characters;
  4. keywords – terms and words characterizing the basic essence of the article, which allow to identify accurately this article in databases, bibliographic files, on the Internet, etc.;
  5. the text proper (the text of the article can be divided into chapters, each of them can be given a heading);
  6. references and notes;
  7. list of images (if any);
  8. summary in a foreign language (English or German); its volume – 2000–5000 characters;
  9. keywords in the foreign language.
The volume of scientific articles is 0.4–1 signature (16,000–40,000 characters). This size includes both the text proper and auxiliary elements.
